How Much Does a Therapist Website Cost in 2026? Real Prices Compared
Every article answering this question says the same thing: "$1,500 to $8,000, it depends." That is true and useless. Here are the actual published prices from the companies therapists most often compare, what each one includes, what it adds up to over five years, and where the $499 build I offer sits in that list.
Prices below are as published on each vendor's site or in recent third-party reviews as of September 2026. Vendors run sales and change plans, so confirm before you sign anything.

What you are actually paying for
A therapist website is four separate jobs, and the price mostly reflects how many of them you hand off.
- Writing. The words on your specialty pages, your about page, your fees page. This is what stalls most therapist websites for months, and it is the single biggest driver of price. DIY and template subscriptions leave it to you or hand you a library shared with hundreds of other practices.
- Design and build. Custom versus template. Custom agencies charge $6,000 or more because a designer is spending weeks on your site. Templates are cheap because the design was done once for everyone.
- Ownership. Subscriptions are rentals. When you stop paying, the site disappears. A one-time build you own can be moved, edited, or handed to someone else.
- Getting found. Google Business Profile setup, page structure that ranks, and ongoing SEO. Some vendors include it, some charge extra, some ignore it entirely.
The five-year math
Monthly prices hide the total. Here is what each option costs over five years, the realistic life of a practice website, using published base prices with no sales or add-ons.
| Option | Five-year total | What you have at the end |
|---|---|---|
| Squarespace DIY at $23/month | $1,380 | A site you wrote and built yourself |
| TherapySites base plus SEO add-on | $6,540 | Nothing; subscription ends |
| Brighter Vision Start | $6,040 | Nothing; subscription ends |
| Empathysites | $8,319 | Your content; site comes down |
| Private Practice Elevation | $6,250 plus optional care plan | A custom WordPress site you own |
| Rank The Practice | $1,699 | A written, designed site you own |
The pattern is clear. Subscriptions look cheap month one and cost the most over time, and you end with nothing. Custom agencies cost the most up front and you end with something valuable. The gap I try to fill is a site with agency-quality writing and ownership at a price that does not require a second mortgage.
What $499 does and does not include
Since I am in the table, here is the honest version. $499 covers a complete site: every page written from a conversation with you, designed and built, with a privacy policy, HIPAA notice, accessibility page, contact form that collects only what it should, Google Business Profile setup, and launch. $20 per month covers hosting, security, and updates when you need them. It does not include photography, a logo if you do not have one, or ongoing monthly blog content and advanced SEO, which is a separate $79 per month add-on you can cancel any time. There is no contract. If you stop paying the $20, I hand you the files. You can see three live builds, including Meredith Murdock, LMFT and Cambiare Counseling, on the therapist website page.
Questions to ask any vendor before you pay
- Who writes the content, and is it written for me or from a library?
- If I cancel, what do I keep? Files? Domain? Nothing?
- Is there a contract, and how long?
- Is Google Business Profile setup included, or is that extra?
- Who do I talk to when something breaks, and how fast do they respond?
- Does the contact form collect clinical information, and where does it go?
If you are weighing whether a website is worth it at all against just having a Psychology Today listing, does your practice still need a website in 2026 answers that directly. And what a practice website really costs covers the same question for other specialties.
Questions practice owners ask
How much does a therapist website cost in 2026?
Published prices in September 2026 range from $16 to $45 per month for a DIY builder, $59 to $349 per month for therapist template subscriptions like TherapySites and Brighter Vision, $2,499 plus $97 per month for a written and designed site from Empathysites, and $6,250 to $6,500 for custom agency builds from Private Practice Elevation or Therapist Site Toolbox. Rank The Practice builds a complete written and designed therapist site for $499 plus $20 per month.
Is a $59 per month therapist website a good deal?
Only if you plan to leave within a year or two. At $59 to $99 per month plus setup fees and add-ons, a subscription site costs $4,000 to $6,500 over five years, and you own nothing at the end. A one-time build you own, with modest hosting, costs less over any horizon longer than about 18 months.
Do I need to write my own website content?
With DIY builders and most template subscriptions, yes, or you are choosing from a pre-written library that hundreds of other therapists also use. Writing is the part that stalls most therapist websites for months. Services that include original writing cost more up front but launch faster and rank better, because the content is specific to you.
What should a therapist website include for the price?
A homepage, an about page with your photo and credentials, a page for each specialty or population you serve, fees and insurance, a good-faith estimate or no-surprises notice where required, a privacy policy and HIPAA notice, an accessibility statement, a contact form that does not collect clinical details, and a Google Business Profile set up to match. Online booking is optional.
